Website vs landing page: which does your business need?

A landing page sells one thing. A website holds the company. Mixing them is how you get a slow home page that converts nothing.

People use the words as if they were the same size. They are not. A landing page has one job on one URL. A website is a small set of URLs that still make sense next year.

What a landing page is for

One offer, one audience, one action: book a call, send WhatsApp, register. You send paid traffic or a campaign link there. Extra navigation is usually a leak. If you are running a single course, a seasonal product, or a waitlist, start here.

What a website is for

People who type your name, compare you to someone else, or return in six months. They need services, work, and a way to contact you that is not tied to last month’s promo. That is the company site checklist.

When companies pick the wrong one

A factory with four product lines stuffed onto one long scroll is not a landing page — it is a site that refused to have URLs. A company that only ever needs leads from one ads campaign does not need a 12-page site first.

If Google is supposed to find several services, those services need pages. A single landing URL cannot rank for five unrelated searches without becoming mush.

Can you have both?

Yes. The site is the home. The landing page is a campaign door that still feels like the same company. Do not send ad traffic to a cluttered home page and hope. Do not replace the whole site with a page that cannot explain who you are when the campaign ends.

How to decide this week

  • One offer, paid traffic, short life: landing page.
  • Name searches, several services, hiring, wholesale: website.
  • Both: site first if you have no URL you own; landing page first if a campaign starts before the company story is ready — then do not pretend the landing page is the company.

If the build is a public site, see custom websites. If the problem is that visits do not message you, read visitors to leads before you add more pages.
